SmartGraft does not create a linear scar. After your treatment, you can wear your hair in any style you prefer, including short styles.
You will not need to buzz your hair for the SmartGraft procedure. Small areas of hair will need to be cut to prepare for your procedure, but you will not need to buzz cut the entire head. SmartGraft is popular with women as it does not require a full head shave.
Most patients have no visible scarring after SmartGraft.
SmartGraft can be used with any hair type or color. We even perform this procedure using hair from the cheeks, chest, and back when patients lack sufficient hair on the head.
Both procedures utilize the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method and reduce linear scarring. However, SmartGraft® is highly automated and allows for removing, separating, and storing grafts with a single, hand-held device. NeoGraft® requires more manual operation and may take slightly longer to perform. Our experts will evaluate you and help you determine which of these options (or another method) is most suitable for your needs.
