Treatments Offered by Dr. Stuart
Dr. Stuart specialized in non-surgical hair restoration techniques to help patients address unwanted hair loss or hair thinning. Each of these non surgical treatments help patients achieve great results with essentially no downtime compared to surgical methods like follicular unit extraction (FUE) or follicular unit transplantation. Because these treatments are non-surgical, patients do not have to worry about scarring or lengthy procedures.
Regenerative Medicine with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma is a serum derived from the patient’s own blood. It contains many growth factors that are beneficial for hair growth and scalp health. Dr. Stuart first takes a blood sample from the patient, then separates the PRP from the blood and prepares it for injection. PRP injections are a kind of regenerative medicine, as they help promote new cell growth to facilitate hair growth and stronger hair follicles. (1)
Prescription Medications
Multiple prescription medications exist to help patients see greater hair growth and reduced hair loss. One of these medications, Minoxidil, increases blood flow to the scalp to promote healthier and thicker hair. Other medications are designed to address the hormonal causes of hair loss, like Finasteride and Spironolactone. These medications help men and women who may be experiencing hair loss as a result of a hormonal imbalance caused by the natural aging process.
Supplements
Some patients may be suffering from hair loss because they are not getting an adequate amount of vitamins or minerals that are associated with healthy hair growth. For example, some people who have an iron deficiency may notice thinning hair or limited hair growth. Implementing an iron supplement into one’s routine can, in turn, help establish healthier hair growth in the future. Supplement regimens can be customized to each individual’s deficiency. Dr. Stuart can help you determine if a vitamin or mineral deficiency may be one of the causes of your hair loss during a personal consultation.
Low Level Light Therapy
Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) uses light energy to stimulate cellular activity in the scalp tissue. LLLT uses precise wavelength technology to promote cell regeneration and healthier hair growth. LLLT is a non-surgical procedure that can help patients see great hair growth results over time. It also stimulates increased blood flow to the scalp, helping the follicles grow hair more quickly.
Female Hair Restoration
Female hair restoration is a procedure to help women improve the thickness and coverage of thinning and loss hair. Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is the most common cause of hair loss in women. (3) Over 25% of all women above the age of 50 will experience a significant amount of hair loss, while approximately 55% of women experience hair loss at one point in their life. (3)
There are a number of reasons as to why women might experience hair loss, including:
- Hormonal changes due to menopause or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (POS)
- Genetic factors such as hereditary hair thinning
- Medical conditions such as anemia or thyroid disorders
- Lifestyle changes such as a poor diet or stress
- Medications and other treatments
Just because you’ve started experiencing hair loss doesn’t mean it has to last forever. At California Hair MD, she offers her patients the best treatment options on the market.
